Oscha Starry Night Serrae

Oscha Starry Night Serrae

Color: pink/purple/white

50% organic combed cotton, 25% wild silk and 25% cotton

Fabric Weight:  Medium (Approx - 246 g/m² )

Oscha Starry Night Serrae was my first silk wrap. I did a lot of research before getting this wrap. ;-) I was pretty nervous prior to getting it because everyone says silk requires more care and caution. I prefer easy wraps since my toddler likes to eat while I carry. When it arrived, I was very surprised. First it was not super soft as I expected, for it to be silk. I could barely tell that is was silk. One reason for that might be from the combed cotton. The second thing was its weird smell. Several individuals told me silk wraps are none for initially having strange smells. So I washed this wrap 5 times and let it air dry each time to ensure I didn’t mess it up. To my surprise the wrapped proved to be very sturdy. It’s easier to work with and has a little more grip than expected. This could also be from the combed cotton. Since then, I’ve had no wrapping issues with it and the smell is completely gone. The weave is amazingly close together, so I’m not afraid to pull any strings. The Starry Night Serrae is an incredible Oscha wrap that I would recommend for newborns and toddler.

Pellicano Zoya Marama

                    Pellicano Zoya Marma

                      Color: green/orange/white

                     Material: 100% cotton

Fabric Weight:  Medium (Approx - 270 g/m² prewash)

                       LIMITED EDITION

Oh, how I love my Pellicano wraps. I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE their stunning colors. If you love rainbows, you will definitely love Pellicano. Pellicano is famous for having high quality wraps, along with great customer service. The Marama was my first rainbow in white-leopard print. The unique thing I like is one can wear the wraps between top or bottom sides up and both look different. It almost gives the illusion of having two wraps in one. J  This Pellicano wrap come soft out of the bag. I also love the Pellicano bags with different patterns. The Pellicano Marama seems like the stitching/threading (weaving) is looser than others. This is not a negative opinion; I highlight this to inform others to be careful because it’s easier to cause loose strings (pulls). The Marama is not as tight and stiff like my other Pellicanos: the Pastell and Tenebris which seem to be immune to pulls. The Marama feels great on my shoulders, similar to a really comfy blanket.  The one thing I’m not a big fan of are the huge, safety instructions attached to the wrap. Some people cut them off but I just deal with it. They get softer with each wash, so it’s not too big of a deal. I recommend using the Pellicano Marama for little babies and toddlers. It’s even great for the easy rucksack carry.
Go Pellicano <3

Smittens Vena Cava - Melanzana

Smittens Vena Cava - Melanzana

Color: Eggplant & EcruMaterial: 100% cotton
Fabric Weight:  Medium (Approx - 260 g/m² prewash)

I received the Smittens Vena Cava - Melanzana wrap about 2 weeks ago. From the very first time seeing those cute, tiny hearts, I began following the Smittens history. I was following the wrap on http://5mr.com/ and wasn't sure about its thickness. My toddler is not that tiny no more, so I prefer thicker wraps when I carry her. There are times when I carry her for up to 3 hours and thin wraps hurt and leave marks on my arms. After following Smittens’ FB page, they finally advertised a sale. The wrap I chose was advertised as 260 g/m²-prewashed. So I figured I would give it a try. Shipping was quick and they even enclosed a cute little book and washing/wearing instructions with my wrap. <3 thank you. :-) My first impression was, it felt quite stiff and really thin when I unwrapped it. But that changed after I gave it a wash. The wash actually changed the texture and I was blown away by the width of the wrap. This is the widest wrap I ever worked with so far and I absolutely love it. I use the double hammock with my daughter a lot and it was quiet difficult first. I thought my arm wasn't long enough the get the fabric all over her butt. lol
I really do LOVE this wrap and I'm quite surprised about the quality. The texture is really nice and the weave is tight so it feels safe for pulling. It didn't take too long to break it in and there was no braiding necessary. Another reason I like this wrap is that it’s in a decent price range. So please, keep it going. This is perfect for newbies who don't want to spend an arm and a leg for a wrap. I would recommend this wrap for a little squish and toddler. I'm not sure if I would buy a shorty for my toddler if I would do a single layer wrap technique like the ER but it's perfect for double layer. I did choose a "plain" color because it just goes perfect with everything. There are some more great colors and other patterns on their page.
